Getting started
ETD carries a thesis, dissertation, or graduate project through three phases: Planning (topic and committee), Preliminary (a format review by Graduate Studies), and Final (committee and evaluator approval). Every page shows you what is needed now and who must act.
Signing in
- CSUN students, faculty, and staff press CSUN sign-in or enter their CSUN email address; the campus single sign-on does the rest.
- Off-campus committee members are invited by email and sign in with the password they set from the invitation. Use Forgot your password? on the sign-in page to get a new link.
- Signing out ends both your ETD session and your campus sign-in session.
Finding your way
- Your theses (/inbox) is home for everyone: your own thesis, anything waiting on you under Action required, and the theses you are involved with.
- Notifications in the top bar mirrors every email ETD sends you, with a count of unread ones.
- Each thesis has one page with a phase stepper, deadlines, the committee, files, comments, and the action you can take now.
- Help (this page) and Send feedback are in the footer of every page.
Deadlines
Each graduation term has a deadline for each phase, at the end of that day, campus time. Graduate Studies can grant an exception that extends one phase for one thesis. Students are emailed 14 and 3 days before a deadline while the thesis is waiting on them.
